Purchased in May 2005, and by April 2007 the water pump started making a horrible noise. Had it replaced, and now here it is Jan. 2010, and it is making the same noise again. So I'm sure the same water pump is going out. Funny thing...we had a lower model Whirlpool dishwasher for approximately 10 1/2 years, and it never had this problem. Now wishing we would have gone with a lower end model again, as replacing this water pump twice, I could have had another new dishwasher already!! Love the Whirlpool brand appliances..ALL of our appliances are Whirlpool. This model of dishwasher must just be a lemon!

The dishwasher worked very well for 1 1/2 year until the motor started being extremely noisy (ironic for something called QuietPartner) and then gave up. The dishwasher is not even 2 years old, the motor is dead and it'll cost most than half what I paid for to fix it.

Whirlpool, never again. I'll never recommend this brand.

Dishwasher is only 3 years old and motor is going. This supposedly is a top of the line appliance, as it is the Whirlpool "gold". Basically, it is the not very good at all. I will never purchase a Whirlpool again, as my Whirlpool oven needed a new electric ignition after 1 year!

Thanks for your comments...it really is very interesting to get your feedback. The Whirpool GU dishwashers seem to be getting rather a lot of negative feedback right now. It's only when you've had a dishwasher for a while that issues like these come to the surface, so getting folks' comments is enormously helpful for everyone.

The other issue we'd like to hear your comments on is whether it's worth buying the extra repair warranty or extended insurance that the retailers try to force on us when we buy a dishwasher? Have you worked out what it would/wouldn't have cost if you'd either bought or not bought the extra guarantee?
