Dishwasher Comparison Guide

Find here a basic dishwasher comparison guide for different models and sizes available on the market, so you can find out what type is best for you and fits well into the space you will have available in your kitchen.

Portable Dishwasher

This type is a free standing standard-sized kitchen appliance that can be moved easily, if needed.

A permanent installation is not necessary, because they can be hooked up to the kitchen faucet when needed. A smaller version, the countertop machines usually fit underneath cupboards close to the kitchen sink.

These dishwasher types make ideal appliances for people with limited space in the kitchen.

Built-in Dishwasher

This is the standard model you can see in most kitchens. It needs a permanent space and they blend stylish and perfect into the kitchen cabinetry. They come in stainless steel or without door panel, so the individual kitchen cabinet door can be added to fit your cabinet style.

The built-in machines have drop-down hinged doors and 2 - 3 pull-out racks. These models come as full-sized or as slimline dishwashers.

The full sized models are ideal for households with a spacey kitchen, where larger loading capacity and convenient pull-out racks are required. The slimline dishwasher types will need less space and fit nicely into smaller spaces.

Compact Dishwashers

They are ideal for small apartment kitchens and they can be used e.g. in RV’s, yachts or caravans and mobile homes. They offer a lot of basic technical features and can hold up to 8 place settings.

Drawer dishwashers

This dishwasher type comes as a single or double drawer model. The single drawer fits even well underneath the sink. The compartments can be used independent from each other, they can wash small loads quickly, e.g. if you need to wash dishes or glasses during a party. For people who would like to keep dishes kosher a drawer dishwasher might be the solution.

In-sink Dishwashers

These models are built into the kitchen sink or form a unit that combines a dishwasher and a smaller kitchen sink. They are loaded from the top and can hold up to 5 place settings. The lid usually comes in stainless steel finish and can be used as a food preparation area and cutting board. The quick wash cycle cleans loads in 20 – 30 minutes. This is ideal for parties, in between menus etc.

These models use less water in a cycle than full-sized dishwashers. This type lies in the upper price range and doesn’t need a lot of space.
