Danby Countertop Dishwasher Reviewed

A Danby countertop dishwasher is fairly popular among small dishwashers. It is operating economically and reliably.

The Danby DDW396W portable dishwasher reviewed here is only 17 inches or 42.5 cm high and can be placed conveniently on the countertop and fits even under most kitchen cabinets.
Hookup is easy to almost all kinds of faucets with the quick connect faucet adapter.

You can load up to 4 place settings, it holds up to 11 inch high standard plates. The tub is made of stainless steel. There is one spray arm that is powerful enough to clean a full load satisfyingly.

The detergent- and rinse aid dispensers are automatic. The rack holds an adjustable dish unit that can e removed, so you can fit in dishes, plates, smaller pots and glasses.
The price is est. at $170 – 200.

This Danby portable dishwasher model has 4 cycle programs: pre-rinse, heavy wash cycle (2 x washing, 2 x rinsing), a short cycle of approx. 30 minutes (1 x washing, 2 x rinsing) and a handy rinse-only cycle ( 2 x rinsing) which is great for washing only lightly messed glassware. It also offers you a Sani-rinse option that heats the water up to a hot 153 F and kills germs and bacteria reliably.

The final rinse in all other cycle programs uses also water heated to the same high temperature by the built-in heating unit.
At the end of a cycle the door should be released to let the steam out through the slightly open door and after 10 – 15 minutes you can remove the dry dishes.

Consumers are usually very satisfied, as it uses only little water and small amounts of detergent. It uses cold water, so your hot water tank will not be “drained”.
This means on the other hand, that it will have to heat up the washing water, which again needs electricity.

Cycles are pretty short at 30 minutes, if you do not use the pre-rinsing option and pre-rinse from hand very dirty dishes.
The door of a Danby countertop dishwasher shows after being used a while a weakness: a lot of otherwise satisfied buyers report of leaking door seals and that hoses are usually in the sink and visible.
